Robin van Persie to be dropped against Hull City

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is set to axe striker Robin van Persie for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Hull City.
The Netherlands international will be dropped down to the substitutes’ bench in favour of on-loan forward Radamel Falcao, provided he is fully fit, or 18-year-old starlet James Wilson.

This is according to The Sun, who report that Van Persie’s future at Old Trafford is in serious doubt following a disappointing start to the season.

Clubs interested in Van Persie

Van Persie has 18 months left on his current contract, but despite recent reports that Manchester United plan to offer him a new two-year deal, it seems the former Arsenal captain could leave the Red Devils in the near future.

Several clubs are believed to be keen on signing Van Persie, including Inter Milan and Fenerbahce, and this latest development should encourage all of the striker’s potential suitors to submit a formal offer either in January or at the end of the season.

Falcao set to start

Falcao is expected to lead the line against Hull this weekend. The Colombia international, who is attempting to secure a permanent contract at Old Trafford, has been out for several weeks with a calf injury.
He finally returned to training last Sunday, before playing 60 minutes of a training match on Monday. The South American has since been training normally with the first-team squad in an attempt to get himself on the team-sheet for Saturday.

Wilson ready

But even if the world-class number nine is not fit enough to start this weekend, Van Persie is still expected to be dropped. Wilson, who replaced his Dutch teammate in the second half against Arsenal last Saturday, is set to start upfront if Falcao fails to make the line-up.
Van Persie was expected to flourish under the management of his former international boss - and friend - Van Gaal. However, the United manager is now prepared to make one of the toughest decisions of his Red Devils’ reign after witnessing Van Persie’s dreadful display at the Emirates Stadium.
